[k6arc] It's That Time of the Year!

Looking across the valley today reminded me that it is once again the time
of year for our winter inversions. This means that distant repeaters and
stations that aren't normally heard can be heard. It is fun to talk to
stations in this mode. Enjoy the contacts while the conditions last.

If hearing these stations is a bother to you, enable PL Decode on your
receiver. Both of our repeaters send 100 Hz PL on the transmitted signal.
None of the repeaters with whom we share channels use 100 Hz in this
fashion, so your radio will only pass audio from our repeaters.

If you believe that you are hearing repeaters on our frequencies that
should not be there, please take good notes about the time and
circumstances, and get in touch with me by radio, email
(na6br at blandranch.net), or phone (209-295-2563). As repeater chairman and
callsign trustee, it is my job to investigate these matters and make any
needed contact with the other repeater owners or our cordinating agency,
NARCC. Club members at large cannot represent our club in these matters
unless directed by the Board.

Chuck
